Miracle German Shepherd Rescue of Maine
We are happy to support the Miracle German Shepherd Dog Rescue of Maine. These dogs come to us from quick kill shelters in other states. We fostered 11 dogs in just over 3 years, most from California. Grizzly decided to stay with us. He was found on the street and arrived injured and underweight. It took him a while to get used to living inside and to trust us, but now he is the first guy at the truck ready to go to work every day.
If you are considering opening your hearts and home to a pet, consider a rescued Shepherd. These are incredibly intelligent dogs who train quickly, have fun personalities, and are very loyal. They know when they have a good situation. I’ve taken Shepherds who just got off transport and put them in the truck seat next to me, trusting they won’t bite me, given them a bath when we get home, and never had an issue.
If you are interested in helping, the Miracle Rescue always needs foster homes and money to cover expenses for medical care, boarding kennels when there are not enough fosters, food, collars and leashes, etc.
Storm Cleanup
In December 2021, Kentucky was devastated by two tornadoes. A few of us, along with Grizzly, grabbed some chainsaws and hit the road. We spent the first two weeks of the new year cutting through massive tangles of downed trees and clearing debris.
During that time, we had the opportunity to build a proper stoop for a retired couple who had survived in an underground bunker and were preparing to live in a camper for at least a year. We even managed to pull a carport off a man’s 1972 Chevy truck—a truck his father had bought new and occasionally let him drive to high school. The spirit and graciousness of the people of Kentucky cannot be overstated.
